Start here if you are not sure
- Call the town's Council on Aging. The outreach worker knows every program in the region and the call is free. Find it on the town page.
- Ask the ASAP for an in-home assessment. The state's Aging Services Access Point sends a case manager at no charge and can open the Home Care Program. See ASAPs.
- Compare facilities with the public record. CMS star ratings, inspection results, certification dates and bed counts are on every nursing home and assisted living page.
Staying at home
Most older adults in Massachusetts want to stay in their own home, and most can, with the right mix of town services, state programs, family and technology. The Staying Home pages lay out what is available town by town.
