Home Health Agencies in Delaware

Medicare-certified home health agencies send nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers and home health aides to the home under a doctor's plan of care. This is skilled, short-term, medical care, usually after a hospital or rehab stay. It is different from non-medical home care, which is regulated separately by each state, if at all.

Who pays

Medicare Part A or B covers home health in full when a doctor certifies the person is homebound and needs skilled care. Medicaid and most Medicare Advantage plans cover it too.

How to choose

You may choose any certified agency that serves your area; the hospital discharge planner will suggest one but cannot require it. Compare the CMS quality of patient care star rating, and ask how quickly they can start.

What is not listed here

Non-medical home care agencies (companions, homemakers, private-pay aides) are not Medicare-certified and most states publish no roster of them, so none are listed. The Area Agency on Aging keeps a list of vetted home care vendors; ask it.
